Leatherhead,
Arthur took 4 paces forward before throwing the ball in. Taking the throw- in from the right spot is a basic rule.
Let's have another thread.

I know the rules of my job, but still make a mistake now and again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm sure you do, but it would be a minor mistake. The ref, yesterday, failed to follow a basic rule, known by anyone who knows football, regarding foul throws. He is paid to enforce these rules. There is no excuse for him not being able to remember how the foul throw rule works.

The fact is, if a ref doesn't know the rules, regarding foul throws, they shouldn't be reffing a kick about for 10 year old kids, let alone a London derby for 2 top flight clubs.

a ref didnt know the rule the previous week when a keeper played the ball on the ground with his hand from a back pass. he doesn't need to pick it up
just in case you want to highlight every minute detail on shit reffing

A mistake that shows conclusively there's at least one top-level ref who doesn't know the rules of the game.
Nothing at all to worry about here...

Officials made a mistake . it was only about a throw in
do we really need a wanker starting a thread about this?

TV Viewers want to see THEIR stars on the pitch, as long as possible, not marching from it.
At the annual referees conference there will be an undocumented "understanding" on this disseminated as part of the FA's "Awareness campaign" - making sure the referees are aware of who pays their wages.
It won't be discussed openly, or even directly mentioned, but you'll get a few "keynote" speeches from people in the media, supported by slap-up meals and a free bar (with heaps of tomatoes, bags of lettuce and lashings of Ginger Beer).
If the refs step out of line in any way, their invitation to the next one will get lost in the post.

Have to enforce the rules consistently and this rule is not that hard to get right and enforce. Imagine if Chelsea scored from the re-take?

Its a foul throw and then deliberate handball. Yellow card and our free kick
Morata collapses his legs and throws himself down .... DIVE , yellow card Morata disputed at least 3 other decisions getting in the refs face & waving his arms about .... DISSENT , second yellow

He was very poor and not helped by two linesman who were afraid to give anything.
The missed handball was disgraceful.
The foul throw was just laughable.
If he doesn't give a foul throw then he has to give us a free kick for handball. How on earth did he let them retake it.

I pretty much always got called for a foul throw in my Sunday league days, seems the refs in lower leagues, interpret the rules correctly for the most part

The retake was a foul throw as well but I reckon about 90% of throws are foul as players always lift a leg. Much like a lot of 'minor' stuff refs ignore it as they would be labelled pedantic if they picked it up.

Re: Chelsea's non foul throw The thing I like most about it was that the retake was also a foul throw, as the bloke's leg was a foot off the ground
Yes I saw that too, ref must have seen it and ignored it as well

Foul throw all day long.
The one that got us all jumping was when Zab chased down into the corner flag, persisted, won the ball, got fouled for his trouble, and the lino flagged it against him, despite being barely two feet away. Gobsmacking.
